Abstract


Communication is an unavoidable part of any human being because human beings cannot live on their own. Interpersonal communication is an exchange of both interpersonal messages and interpersonal messages. Good interpersonal communication can result in such close relationships as friendship. Friendship is an interpersonal relationship with another. Friendship is a form of attachment that includes pleasure, trust, acceptance, appreciation, mutual help, trust in each other, understanding, and maturity. Forging friendships with people of different ethnic, ethnic, cultural or racial backgrounds is an accomplishment that results from interpersonal communication. The study attempted to explain the stages in which students with different tribal backgrounds could form friendships through interpersonal communication in the study of the science of communion at Jakarta state university. The methods in this study are qualitative with case study types.The result was developing friendly relationships with different tribal students in interpersonal communication at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta communication science study program through four stages such as in the theory of social penetration. The first stage is self-revelation starting with the introduction. The second is the stage of proximity through self-revelation. The third is the depth breach. Lastly, proximity settings based on reward and cost.
